2. Washington Nationals (34

Posted by tammylleanne

The Washington Nationals get a key piece to their club back on Sunday, when Stephen Strasburg returns to the hill to start the finale of a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians.
Strasburg has not started since May 31, when a strained right lat muscle forced him out of his start against the Atlanta Braves after just two innings of work. The right-hander was eyeing a third straight winning decision after having dropped five in a row.
Strasburg, who was placed on the disabled list June 5, threw a simulated game on Tuesday and completed a successful bullpen session Twins 33 Justin Morneau red 2010 All Star Jerseys All Star Jerseys two days later. He was then cleared by Washington head trainer Lee Kuntz to start this game.
The 24-year-old is 3-5 on the year with a 2.54 earned run average through 12 starts, logging 73 strikeouts over 74 1/3 innings.
Strasburg has faced the Indians once before and picked up a victory as he held them to a run on two hits and five walks over 5 1/3 innings of a 9-4 decision on June 13, 2010 in Cleveland.
The Indians should have some confidence going against Strasburg given the way Corey Kluber pitched last time out. A duplicate performance today should take some pressure off of the offense.
The right-handed Kluber won for the first time since May 15 with Tuesday's 5-2 victory in Texas. He yielded just one run on six hits and three walks over a season-high eight innings versus the Rangers, snapping the Tribe's eight-game losing streak.
"He's getting better 2009 All Star Seattle Mariners 51 Ichiro Blue Jerseys right in front of our eyes," Cleveland manager Terry Francona said of Kluber. "For him to go out there today and kind of shoulder that responsibility, we're really proud of him."
Kluber is 4-4 with a 4.08 ERA this season and will face the Nationals for the first time. The 27-year-old does so looking for his first home win of 2013, going 0-2 with a 4.20 ERA in four appearances (3 starts).
The Indians and Nationals have traded late-inning victories over the first two games of this set. After Cleveland won in walk-off fashion to claim Friday's opener, Washington scored twice over the final two innings to win last night's meeting 7-6.
Chad Tracy hit a game-tying homer in the eighth inning before Anthony Rendon delivered his first career home run in the top of the ninth. His two-out solo shot came after he nearly made the game's final out.
Cleveland's Vinnie Pestano got two quick outs to begin the frame and looked to have gotten Rendon to foul out to first base, but Nick Swisher could not come up with the ball. Given second life, Rendon posted his third hit of the game and fifth solo homer of the contest for the Nats.
"I don't even know how to explain it. It felt good, I guess." Rendon said. "I thought the ball was in play because I saw it drop. But I didn't know it went into the bullpen. I thought it was still on the field."
Ryan Zimmerman, Jayson Werth and Ian Desmond all hit homers for the Nats, who have won five of seven.
Carlos Santana and Mark Reynolds clubbed back-to-back homers in the fourth for the Indians, who had won three straight following a season-high eight-game skid.
"We did a really good job of climbing back into that game," Francona said. "We just, we didn't finish it out."
Washington and Cleveland are wrapping their first series since the Indians took two of three matchups at home back in 2010.

3. Big racing night set for Kil_1

Posted by morgymnkamy

6/14/2013 12:21:00 AMBig racing night set for Kil-Kare Friday nightBy JOHN BOMBATCHContributing Writer

GREENE COUNTY Oakley HALF X Sunglasses Outlet Sunglasses Race fans can enjoy the best of closed- and open-wheeled racing, tonight at Kil-Kare Raceway.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, with its late model, modified, sports stock and compact racing divisions, will be on hand. Plus, the United States Auto Club s Ford Focus Midget auto racing series will be on hand as well.

With double wins during last week s Double Feature race night, Beavercreek s Jack Jones has grabbed a 122-point lead over Bob Sibila in the Modified division.

Jones was more concerned with Sibila, after a Lap 22 accident put his nearest points rival into the Turn 2 wall and out of the race. Sibila was able to walk to the track ambulance under his own power.

I hope Bob s okay. It all started here in Turn 4, when me and Terry (Humphrey) got into it. He was racing Ryan (Fleming) pretty hard, and I didn t want to put them three wide. So when Ryan got behind them by a bumper, I figured I d go ahead and make my move. Because if not, I wasn t gonna get em.

Jones thanked his grandpa, Joe Jones, for his support.

Fleming is second in the Modified points chase.

New Carlisle driver Jamie Sites also won a pair of races to grab the division lead in the sport stocks. He needed both wins. He leads David Stump of Xenia, who finished second and fourth in the two features, by five points.

For Stump to come back and take second (in the final feature last week), that was a great run for him, Sites said. We re really close in the points, so he did really well to stay right back up there.

Other feature Oakley XX META Sunglasses wins went to Late Model leader Don Mahaffey of Dayton, and Late Model points runner up Justin Alsip, of Germantown; Compact points leader Bryan Lynch, and Nicholas Barrett also claimed wins. The USAC Midwest Midgets Series has had races in Gas City and Montpelier, Ind. so far this season.

Thanks to a pair of Eastern Series 25-lap feature wins in Altamahaw, N.C. last weekend, Chris Lamb, of Colfax, N.C. is the points leader in the Midwest Midget Series and the Eastern Midget Series. Both series are expected to be at Kil-Kare tonight.

Kevin Thomas Jr., of Cullman, Ala., won the first race at Gas City s I-69 Speedway in April. Marion, Indiana s Scott Weir won at Gas City in June.

Justin Grant of Piqua finished sixth in that June race. He s the only Ohioan who s been listed in the final results thus far. Results for the two events at Montpelier Motor Speedway were not available on sprintsource.com.

The series will next race at Columbus Motor Speedway on Saturday night, then they have a three-race stretch in North Carolina, starting with an event June 19 at Concord Motor Speedway.

They ll race at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C. and Orange County Speedway in Durham, N.C., before returning to Gas City, Ind. on June 28.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. today, with spectator gates opening at 6 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 with a student ID, active military personnel can get in free with an active ID, and kids 12 and under can get in free, too. Visit kilkare.com for more details.

4. Woods matches his worst US Open round as a pro

Posted by kerimoleevige

ARDMORE, Pa. (AP) 鈥? made birdie at the first hole, only to watch his day go racing downhill from there.
By the time it was over, Woods skidded to seven bogeys and a 6-over-par 76 Saturday, tumbling down the leaderboard and matching his worst round as a pro at the . That left him 10 strokes behind third-round leader , the only player under par at the short but devilishly tough .
Despite leading the PGA Tour in putting in recent weeks, Woods needed 36 putts on the severely undulating greens. He blamed his inability to gauge the speed of those baffling putting surfaces for his three days of uneven play 鈥?and he was right.
Woods is tied for third in fairways hit and 22nd in reaching the greens in regulation. But he's averaged 32 putts per round, which left him tied for 53rd in the field of 73 players.
"It's certainly frustrating because I was feeling like I was playing well this week and I just didn't make the putts I needed to make," he said afterward.
"The first two days, I had, like, three 3-putts and I was four shots off the lead, and I missed a boatload of putts within 10 feet. So I really wasn't that far off. If I clean up the round and don't 3-putt, I'm one shot back starting out today. ..." Woods added.
"Basically, I just didn't have the speed right this week and it certainly showed."
Woods' toughest stretch came at Nos. 3-6, where he made three bogeys in a four-hole stretch. He blamed the last of those for setting the negative tone that hung over his round like the storm clouds that rolled over Merion throughout Thursday's opening round. His troubles at No. 6 included a tee shot that finished up in another player's divot in the fairway, as well as a delicate greenside chip that rolled back and left him facing his next shot from farther back.
"I think the (bogey) 5 really turned my round around," Woods said. "I drove it right in the middle of the fairway and I end up in a ball mark from somebody else's ball mark, so it was kind of the way it went."
This U.S. Open marks exactly five years since Woods won his last major, at Torrey Pines, which he captured in a playoff against , despite hobbling Wholesale NBA T shirts around with ligament damage. His pursuit of ' career record of 18 majors remains stalled at 14.
Woods also shot a 76 in the final round at Shinnecock Hills in 2004, as well as two rounds of 76 at Winged Foot in 2006 when he missed the cut.
Woods' worst round ever at an Open was a 77 at Oakland Hills in 1996, when he was a 19-year-old amateur.
What made his performance here perhaps even more surprising is that Woods has already won four times this season, including The Players Championship 鈥?sometimes called golf's fifth major 鈥?and three of his last five starts. Most recently, however, Woods stumbled to an 8-over-par finish and a tie for 65th at the Memorial, a tournament he'd won five times.
Woods said several tough pin placements chosen by the 's course set up compounded his problems trying to figure out the speed of the greens.
"Look at what they did at (Nos.) 7 and 8 today. Couple short holes, but 7 is one step and a half over the top of the ridge. Eight is on the down slope a little bit, and it's a pretty steep slope. So they got some really tough ones out there," he said.
But Woods' also conceded he rarely put his approach shots into those greens where he should have.
"If you put the ball in the right spots you've got uphill putts and you can be really aggressive," Woods said.
Woods now faces the prospect of beginning the final day of yet another major with only the longest of shots to contend. What little consolation he could muster came when someone asked, "Tough day?"
"Yeah," Woods replied. "At least I started well."

5. LAS VEGAS- DA- Brockovich to face misdemeanor boat DUI charge

Posted by tammylleanne

LAS VEGAS Environmental activist and movie namesake Erin Brockovich will face a misdemeanor charge of operating a boat while intoxicated at Lake Mead, the district attorney in Las Vegas decided Tuesday.
Brockovich, 52, has an Oct. 7 court date in Henderson Justice Court stemming from her arrest Friday evening at a marina on the Colorado River reservoir behind Hoover Dam, said Tess Driver, an aide to Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson.
A Nevada state game warden reported that Brockovich appeared to argue on the 26-foot Cobra motor boat Cardinals 50 Adam Wainwright Road Cool Base Grey 2010 All Star Jerseys with her husband, Eric Ellis, and threw a cellphone into the water before having trouble mooring the vessel at the Las Vegas Boat Harbor.
The warden said he had to help Brockovich dock the boat, and said two breath tests measured her blood-alcohol level at twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
The criminal complaint refers to Brockovich by her full name, Erin Elizabeth Brockovich-Ellis.
She could face six months in jail, a $1,000 fine, up to 96 hours of community service and court-ordered alcohol and drug counseling if she is convicted of driving under the influence as a first offense in Nevada, Driver said.
Brockovich, who was freed on $1,000 bail late Friday at the Clark County jail, was driving home Tuesday to Agoura Hills, Calif., said her publicist, David Kass.
She didn't immediately comment about the district attorney's decision to go forward with charges.
In a statement issued Sunday, Brockovich apologized but insisted she hadn't operated the boat in open waters.
"At no time was the boat away from the dock and there was no public safety risk," Brockovich said. "That being said, I take drunk driving very seriously, this was clearly a big mistake, I know better and I am very sorry."
Brockovich's efforts to sue Pacific Gas & Electric for polluting the water supply of a small Southern California town became the subject of a 2000 movie that earned Julia Roberts an Academy Award for playing Brockovich.
Brockovich now heads a consulting Braves 22 Jason Heyward 2010 all star blue Jerseys firm and was featured in the 2011 documentary "Last Call at the Oasis," about the planet's dwindling and increasingly polluted water supply.

6. John Terry- Why Chelsea Club Captain Is Still Required by Jose Mourinho

Posted by morgymnkamy

Many mocked the former England international for donning a Chelsea strip and lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy despite missing the game through suspension, but the players had no qualms with it.
Simply put, he's a locker room hero, and the players feed off his leadership skills.
He still represents a very good rotational option in defence and keeps the club's depth in that position incredibly strong, while he also injects a bit of traditional, British steel to the ranks.
You haven't seen any "if I'm not playing, I'm going" spiel from the player because Cheap Oakley Oakley Scalpel Sunglasses Radarlock Sunglasses he loves the club a valuable trait that has allowed him to slot seamlessly from undroppable to backup without any animosity.
Many clubs fret over how to tell their long-term stars they're no longer cutting the mustard, but Terry's acceptance of the situation has been impressive.
He won't cause any public problems in the background, but his vocally commanding style can still inspire the dressing room.
In some ways, it's reasonable to expect Terry to act more as Mou's No. 2 in the dressing room than a sure-fire starter on the field.

7. APNewsBreak- FEMA denies aid to Texas for blast

Posted by kerimoleevige

HOUSTON (AP) 鈥?The is refusing to provide money to help rebuild the small Texas town where a deadly fertilizer plant explosion leveled numerous homes and a school, and killed 15 people.
According to a letter obtained by , FEMA said it reviewed the state's appeal to help West but decided that the explosion "is not of the severity and magnitude that warrants a major disaster declaration."
The blast killed 10 first responders and brought national attention to the agricultural community. President traveled to the area to attend a memorial service for the first responders and others who died trying to help.
The FEMA funds would have helped pay for public repairs such as roads, sewer lines, pipes and a school that were destroyed. It does not impact emergency funds FEMA has provided to individual residents.
West Mayor Wholesale NBA T shirts said the rural community of 2,800 people estimated the cost of those repairs at about $57 million, including $40 million to rebuild a school that was destroyed when the blew up in April.
"We don't have the money to go out and borrow the money. We don't have the means to pay that note back," Muska said. "There's got to be some public assistance."
FEMA did not immediately return a call seeking comment. The letter, dated June 10, is addressed to Texas Gov. and signed by FEMA Administrator .
The West Fertilizer Co. blew up after the plant caught fire. The cause of the fire remains unclear 鈥?and a criminal investigation is still open 鈥?but investigators say the heat of the fire destabilized tons of a potentially explosive fertilizer stored at the plant, leading to the massive blast that leveled chunks of the town. The incident highlighted how loosely regulated some chemicals are, including the ammonium nitrate that blew up, and has some critics saying the government needs to tighten its oversight of such plants.
The blast emitted a wave of energy so strong it registered as a small earthquake, knocked down people blocks away, blew out windows, left a massive 93-foot crater and curved walls of homes and buildings.
, superintendent of West schools, said officials had requested the FEMA aid to help pay for structural damage. An intermediate school near the plant was destroyed, as were parts of the high school and middle school. The district expects to get tens of millions of dollars in insurance money to help pay for the repairs, but needs the FEMA funds to get the job done, he said.
Crawford believes the state could continue to push FEMA to reverse its decision, though it Chicago Boston Celtics T Shirts appears the chance of getting federal assistance is low.
"Now we're not out of appeals, but in baseball terms, we're probably facing a two-strike count and fouling a bunch of pitches off," Crawford said in a phone interview. "As long as you've got another strike to fight with, we can hold onto hope."

8. Apocalypse now, Seth Rogen style

Posted by tammylleanne

The world won't end with just a bang or a whimper, but also a truckload of sophomoric humor and Hollywood in-jokes. At least that's the way Seth Rogen and a bunch of his movie-star buddies see it in "This Is the End," a riff on the apocalypse that's closer in spirit to Harold Kumar than Genesis and Revelations.
Directed and written by Rogen and friend Evan Goldberg (who wrote "Pineapple Express"), and based on a short film by Jason Stone, "This Is the End" is one extended meta joke about stardom and celebrity that goes on too long and gets derailed by the pair's 2009 All Star St.Louis Cardinals 4 Molina Red Jerseys desire to keep upping the level of comedic absurdity and cheesy special effects. Still, there are lots of low-brow laughs, especially in the first half.
As with everyone else in the film, Rogen plays himself, or at least a crude caricature of his geeky persona. He has invited Jay Baruchel ("Tropic Thunder"), an actor friend and fellow Canadian, to L.A. for some down time. They head over to James Franco's new place for a house party, and that's where the whole crew - Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Rihanna, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Mindy Kaling, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Paul Rudd, basically anyone who has ever walked by a Judd Apatow set - is ready to have a good time.
But then the Rapture happens (Spoiler alert: None of the celebs gets called to heaven), massive quakes reduce L.A. to rubble, and Seth, Jay, Craig, James, Danny and Jonah are left to fend for themselves amid an atmosphere of camaraderie, cowardice and cracks about each others' movies.
The film is at its buddy-movie, Hollywood-skewering best when staying on the human level. Even the usually repellent McBride has a few good lines.
Yet as events become more supernatural, "This Is the End" spirals into over-the-top silliness - Hill getting possessed probably sounded good on paper - as Seth and Jay struggle to find a way to get into heaven. It's as if Rogen and Goldberg, making their directing 2009 All Star San Diego Padres 23 Gonzalez Red Jerseys debut, couldn't keep up the conceit.
It's an apocalypse of a different sort for filmmakers when they run out of ideas long before their movie ends.
THIS IS THE END

Posted by morgymnkamy

The in Oshkosh is getting a little assistance from an aviation executive in Wichita, Kan., in the organization's tussle over a new fee being imposed on the group by the federal government.

Former chief executive officer has reached out to Wisconsin鈥檚 U.S. senators to try to reverse plans to begin charging the EAA $500,000 to staff a control Cheap Oakley Split Jacket Sunglasses tower during association's AirVenture event in Oshkosh.

But for now, it looks as though EAA will have to foot the bill.

According to , Pelton, EAA鈥檚 chairman, says the organization will pay the fee if it has to in order to guarantee the show is fully staffed with air traffic controllers.

The fee is being charged as part of the FAA鈥檚 ongoing efforts to cut its budget. Pelton said recent negotiations with the FAA over the fee amounted to essentially a demand for the funds or the show would risk not having its control tower staffed.

The effort to reverse the fee is in its early stages, but the Wisconsin senators have co-signed a letter with 27 other senators voicing opposition to the plan to FAA Administrator .

The letter calls the fee 鈥渢antamount to Cheap Oakley Eyepatch 2 Sunglasses an imposition of new user fees on general aviation.鈥?
